Primary school tutoring and private lessons
From the 1st to the 6th year of primary school, at home or online
Why get tutoring in primary school?
In primary school, children learn to read, write and count in Arabic and French. These basics are then used in every subject: a reading or arithmetic difficulty that is not addressed in time comes back in middle school.
A private tutor follows the child closely, at their own pace: they spot what has not been understood, go back over class exercises and help with homework. Short, regular lessons suit young students better than long, spaced-out ones.
Parents also gain a contact person: the tutor explains what has been covered and what still needs work.
Primary school, year by year
1st and 2nd years
Learning to read and write, first calculations. Tutoring helps a child who struggles to read or to remember letters and numbers.
3rd and 4th years
Consolidation: reading comprehension, times tables, first grammar and spelling rules in both languages.
5th and 6th years
Fractions, problem solving, writing. The 6th year ends with the provincial exam, which opens the way to middle school.
The 6th-year provincial exam
At the end of the 6th year, students sit a unified provincial exam organised by the provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education. It concludes primary school and prepares the move to middle school.
Tutoring in the 6th year focuses on reviewing the topics of the last few years, practising on exam-style papers and building the child's confidence for exam day.

At home or online?
At home
The most common choice for young children: the tutor comes to the house, the child works in a familiar setting and parents are nearby.
Online
Possible once the child is comfortable in front of a screen, with a parent close by at first. The shared whiteboard lets them read, write and calculate together.
